Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899) hailed originally from North Shields in Northumberland but spent most of his life in London and Surrey.
He was a highly successful painter of sentimental rustic scenes in water colour and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy of Arts.
He was commissioned by Cadbury's for their famous chocolate box artwork and was also a book and magazine illustrator of some note.
He turned to etching later in his career and only 6 or 7 were ever completed.
