ANTONINUS PIUS'S WALL

in SCOTLAND

By John Cary

Published London 1806 by John Stockdale in "Camden's Britannia".

An original copper engraved antique map of the Roman Antonine Wall, Scotland.

The map displays the Roman encampments along the Antonine Wall between Dumbarton and the Firth of Forth in Scotland. The defensive wall, also called Graham's Dyke was further north than Hadrian's Wall and became untenable after only a decade or so and the Romans drew back to Hadrian's Wall as their northern boundary.

Fine condition other than insignificant age related blemishes, blank verso.

Approx. 13" x 8" (330mm x 200mm) map area only with good margins beyond.
