A fine copper engraved original antique Ptolemaic map of The British Isles enhanced with early hand colouring.

Scotland is orientated to the east and the ancient tribal areas are marked. 

A rare later edition of Mercator's Ptolemaic map of the British Isles to illustrate Horsley's 3 part work on Roman Britain.

 An excellent example in fine, clean condition, free of repairs or restoration. 

Approx. 14" x 12" (360mm x 310mm) map area only, with good margins beyond.

 Printed on hand laid paper which remains stable and robust, blank verso.
