 Published Amsterdam circa 1620 in Tabularum Geographicum Contractarum 

A fine copper engraved original miniature antique map of The British Isles.

The title is displayed in a strapwork cartouche and a second cartouche houses a scale of English miles.

An excellent example of this somewhat scarce map, enhanced with later hand colouring.

Fine condition other than insignificant age related blemishes, free of repairs or restoration, blank verso, faint old fold lines. 

Approx. 5" x 4" (135mm x 95mm) map area only, with good margins beyond.

 Printed on hand laid paper which remains stable and robust. 

 Petrus Bertius 1565 -1629

Also known Pieter or Peter Bertius of Flemish birth he was educated at Leiden University and was a theologian, historian and mathematician of some standing, but is remembered chiefly for his cartographic works.

His brothers in law Joducus Hondius and Pieter Van Den Keere were also highly successful cartographers and  engraved many of the maps for the Tabularum Geographicum Contractarum.
