A Map of the Hundreds of HOO

and of CHATHAM and GILLINGHAM

by Edward Hasted

Printed for Edward Hasted by Simmons and Kirkby, Canterbury 1778 in the first edition of

"The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent".

An original 18th century copper engraved antique map of part of Kent, England.

Enhanced with later hand colouring.

Hasted's highly detailed map provides a fascinating record of Kent in the late 1700's.

Covers Hoo, Chatham, Gillingham, High Halstow, Allhallows, Lidsing, Lower, Middle and Upper Stoke, (marked as Stoke), St. Mary Hoo (as St.Mary's), St.James's and many other villages and hamlets between.

The detail includes roads, individual buildings and topographical features.

Upper and lower margins close trimmed (as issued), but margins re-instated with contemporary paper to facilitate mounting/matting for framing and display.

Some minor creasing and offsetting, fold lines as issued, otherwise fine condition.

Approx. 19" x 15" (490mm x 370mm) overall.
