An original 18th century copper engraved antique map of Italy.

An attractive and interesting map with "The Land of the Church" stretching from Rome to the north east coast beyond Ravenna.

A fine example of this very scarce map.

The book itself was originally written as a teaching aid for students by Johann Hubner, a German scholar.

Cowley translated the book into English from high Dutch and added a set of interesting maps to illustrate the work.

Some of the maps bear the signature of Emanuel Bowen and he may well have engraved all of them as they follow a common format, albeit varying in size.

Fine, clean condition, free of repairs or restoration, blank verso. Fold lines as issued.

Approx. 5" x 4.5" (130mm x 110mm) map area only, with margins beyond.
