Product Description

MONTGOMERY

Contributory Borough of

LLANIDLOES

by Henry James

Drawn up by Colonel Henry James of the Royal Engineers and published by the Boundaries Commission in 1868.

Printed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, England in 1868 using the zincograph printing process, a recently devised form of lithography using zinc plates to replace stone.

An original 19th century antique street plan of Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire, Wales.

The large scale clearly shows the street layout with railways, some individual buildings and even the landowner's names.

An accurate record of the area in the mid 19th century which makes an interesting comparison with the present day.

The whole country was surveyed for the Boundaries Commission as an update to the 1832 reform bill survey - a major shake-up of the nation's parliamentary representation.

The map is on a scale of 4 inches to a mile.

Enhanced with original hand colouring with a colour key to identify the various boundaries.

Fine, clean condition, free of repairs or restoration. No folds, blank verso.

Approx. 13" x 9" (330mm x 220mm) printed area only, with margins beyond to facilitate mounting/matting and framing.

A GENUINE ORIGINAL ANTIQUE MAP GUARANTEED OVER 150 YEARS OLD FROM LINDISFARNE PRINTS
