Antique Map

THE ROAD FROM KING'S LYNN TO NORWICH CONTINUED TO YARMOUTH IN NORFOLK

An interesting, detailed, mid 18th century antique road strip map, showing the route from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth via Gayton, Billingford, Norwich and Haddiscoe.

Published in

"An Actual Survey of all Principal Roads of England & Wales "

By John Bowles 1757

John Bowles re-published the John Senex maps which are based on the earlier survey of the roads by John Ogilby. The maps were printed back to back and an unrelated map appears verso.

The map depicts a route in the form of 6 vertical strips with a compass rose showing orientation; also shown are distance in miles from King's Lynn, towns, churches, windmills, rivers and hills which are shown pictorially.

On hand laid paper, delicately enhanced with later hand colouring .

For greater detail please view further close up images.

A most attractive map which would frame well.

Measuring approx 9" x 7.5" ( 230mm x 190mm ) overall
