An original early 18th century copper engraved antique map of Kent to show the network of beacon fires intended as first warning of impending invasion by the Spanish Armada.
The map is based on an earlier work by William Lambard in his "Perambulations of Kent" published in 1596 amid accusations of carelessly informing state enemies of the beacon's locations.
Above the map is an engraved view of Reculver church and an acknowledgement to "Mr. Richard Mount, Citizen and Stationer of London native of Kent" who provided the plate.
