Original Antique Print

BERNARD CASTLE (Barnard)

Durham

Engraved by Robert Wallis after Joseph Mallord William Turner

Published London 1838 by Orme, Brown, Green and Longmans in

"Picturesque Views in England and Wales from drawings by J.M.W.Turner Esq. R.A."

A fine original antique steel engraving of Barnard Castle, Durham, England.

Turner's famous set of views are characterised by his inclusion of foreground interest, in this case fishing and other activities on the banks of the River Tees.

The lead image shows the engraving as it would appear when mounted/matted ready for framing. See also an overall view.

The print is accompanied by the original page of interesting descriptive text about the castle.

An attractive good sized print for framing and display, dated in the plate (1827).

Fine condition other than some faint spotting in the margins not affecting the printed area, printed on heavy grade paper, blank verso.

Approx. 12" x 9.5"(300mm x 240mm) overall.

A GENUINE ANTIQUE PRINT GUARANTEED OVER 185 YEARS OLD FROM LINDISFARNE PRINTS
