A fine original aquatint of the traditional Bishop Blaize Procession in Yorkshire.

Walker describes the procession held by the wool combers each year on February 3rd.
Bishop Blaize or Blasius (of Armenia) reputedly invented the art of combing wool in preparation for spinning.

Dated in the plate.

From a first edition of Walker's "The Costume of Yorkshire" accompanied by the interesting related text in English and French.


A fascinating record of Yorkshire life in Regency England first issued as a part work in 1813 to 1814 and published as a complete book in 1814.
