An interesting , scarce and detailed , early 18th century antique road strip map, showing part of the route from London to Reigate via Newington Butts, Stockwell, Ballam, Tooting, Mitcham and on to Reigate.
The map depicts a route in the form of 4 vertical strips.
Adjacent to this route is a second strip map in the form of two vertical strips showing the route from Paddington to Epping Forest via Islington, Dalston , Clapton and on to Epping Forest.
Additionally, miles, towns, villages, churches, windmills, rivers and hills are depicted along both routes. The map is enhanced with later hand colouring
Based on the earlier survey of the roads by John Sennex .
Fine, unmarked condition , a crisp, dark impression which would frame well.
Measuring approx 9" x 7" ( 230mm x 180mm ) overall.
