This was the first major botanical work of William Curtis but no more than 300 copies were made so the prints are quite rare.
These fine, vibrant engravings, known for their fine details and delicate colouring , are highly desirable and superbly decorative so they are considered very collectible.
Accompanying the print are notes which provide the botanical detail to assist in the identification of the species.

Curtis was Director, of the Society of Apothecaries at the Chelsea Physic Garden and a botanist with a broad knowledge of exotic species. Following Flora Londinesis he went on to publish The Botanical Magazine which continued for over 160 years
