GREGORY'S (Gregories)

Buckinghamshire

Engraved by Fitler after Corbould and published London 1793 by Harrison & Co. in;

"The Copper Plate Magazine consisting of sublime and interesting views in Great Britain and Ireland, beautifully engraved by the most eminent Artists from the Paintings and Drawings of the first Masters"

A detailed copper engraved view of Gregories Court which stood near Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire and was the seat of Edmund Burke.

It was also known as Butler's Court after a later owner of the property. It was destroyed by fire in 1831 but the name lives on in nearby Gregories Farm Road.

A crisp, dark impression in fine condition other than some faint spotting in the extremities.

Printed on robust wove paper, blank verso and accompanied by a sheet of associated text detailing the history and location.

Measuring approx. 8" x 6" ( 200m x 150mm) to the clearly defined platemark, with margins beyond.
