THE MILK BOY

Engraved by R&D Havell after George Walker

for "The Costume of Yorkshire" by George Walker

Published by Robinson and Son, Leeds 1814

A fine original aquatint of a milk boy in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Dated in the plate (1813)

From a first edition of Walker's "The Costume of Yorkshire" accompanied by the interesting related text in English and French.

The description covers the milk boy's work delivering the daily milk on his mule, whilst dismissing him as a "little miscreant" with "barbarous taste" .

A fascinating record of Yorkshire life in Regency England first issued as a part work in 1813 to 1814 and published as a complete book in 1814.

A most attractive print, ideal for framing and display.

Fine condition other than a few isolated spots, free of repairs or restoration. The superb original colours remain bright and fresh.
