Published London 1878 in "Illustrations of Typical Specimens of Lepidoptera Heterocera in the Collection of The British Museum" by Arthur Gardiner Butler.

A beautiful set of hand coloured lithographs of various species of moth from Japan i.e. Chilo accuminatus, Adela optima, Sphecia contaminata, Conchylis dives, Sciapteron regale, Aegiria tenuis, Aegeria hector, Tinthia editha, Crambus argyrophorus and Tinthia constricta. A numbered key below identifies each moth specimen.

 The exquisite detail and quality of colouring can be seen in the close up image provided. The colours remain fresh and bright - a highly decorative print for display.

Fine unmarked condition.   

Approx. 10" x 8.5"(250mm x 210mm) printed area as depicted.
