An impressive copper engraved view of Bedford or Newnham Priory, Newnham, in Bedford, England.
An excellent example of the highly collectible "Buck's Views". Dated in the plate.
Historical notes are displayed beneath the engraving which explains that the Baron of Bedford built the priory to rehouse the monks at D'Newenham after one of the canons "kill'd a butcher in a fray".
Fine condition, free of repairs or restoration. A crisp, dark impression printed on heavy grade hand laid paper.
This would frame up beautifully for display.
