"Report (1800)From the Select Committee upon the Improvement of the Port of London"

A fascinating plan of dock facilities for the River Thames drawn up to support a planning application for new development. The proposed new quays are highlighted in original hand colour against the existing street plan which names many of the old streets between London Bridge and Blackfriars. The chart is annotated with an explanation of how new embankments would be created using material dredged from the river bed to deepen the channel.

The chart would make an absorbing comparison with the present day and a fascinating record of a rapidly changing London at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries.

Fine clean condition. Fold lines as issued with some light associated creasing and a small repair to a minor edge split.

Approx. 19" x 15" (490mm x 380mm) map area only with titles and margins beyond.

Printed on good quality heavy grade wove paper, blank verso.
