An interesting copper engraved antique print of a slate quarry to illustrate the mid 18th century techniques of slate extraction and processing. The print is accompanied by the related text describing slate quarrying which includes a numbered key to the points of interest in the engraving.

 Fine condition other than minor spotting. Fold lines as issued.

 Printed on hand laid paper, blank verso.

Approx. 9" x 8" (230mm x 200mm) overall.


The Universal Magazine was a popular 18th century illustrated periodical.

  It was established in 1747 by John Hinton and ran until 1799. The fine copper engraved illustrations and maps are widely collected.
