THEATRE ROYAL, DRURY LANE

This Evening Wednesday January 23rd 1828

An original antique theatre bill or broadside advertising a programme of performances at London's Theatre Royal on Drury Lane. 

The main crowd puller that evening nearly 200 years ago was the pantomime "Harlequin & Cock Robin or, the Babes in the Wood".

 This was only the second year of staging this early traditional pantomime which was first performed at the Theatre Royal the year before in 1827. The broadside includes details of all 17 scenes with scene 16 incorporating Herr Cline on the tightrope (Corda Tesa) and Blackmore on the "Cloud Swing" (Corde Volante).

This "New Grand and Comic Christmas Pantomime" was preceded by a performance of "Turkish Lovers" based on Rossini's "Il Turco in Italia"

Fine condition other than some faint browning in the margins as seen.

 Free of repairs or restoration, blank verso, ideal for framing and display. 

 Approx. 13.5" x 8" (340mm x 210mm)overall.
