A copper engraved antique portrait of Thomas Betterton (1635 -1710) the celebrated London actor held in high esteem by Charles II.

 Fine condition other than some very faint patchy browning.

 Printed on hand laid paper, blank verso.

Approx. 8" x 5" (200mm x 120mm) overall.

The Universal Magazine was a popular 18th century illustrated periodical.

  It was established in 1747 by John Hinton and ran until 1799. The fine copper engraved illustrations and maps are widely collected.
