Published London 1751 by John Hinton.  

A good sized copper engraved antique print of Tong Castle, Shropshire. Demolished in the 1950's the castle remains can be seen on either side of the M54 motorway.

 Fine condition other than some light patchy browning mostly in the margins. Fold lines as issued.

 Printed on hand laid paper, blank verso.

Approx. 10" x 6" (270mm x 160mm) printed area only with margins beyond.


The Universal Magazine was a popular 18th century illustrated periodical.

  It was established in 1747 by John Hinton and ran until 1799. The fine copper engraved illustrations and maps are widely collected.
