Ships and small boats depicted in heavy seas crossing the bar at Tynemouth at the entrance to the River Tyne.
John Carmichael (1799-1868) was a celebrated marine and landscape artist based in Newcastle.
The engravings of his works comprise a fine record of life on 19th century Tyneside and are very scarce.

Fine condition other than minor age related blemishes, free of repairs or restoration, blank verso.
