Engraved after a drawing beloging to the De Visme family

Published London 1806 by J.Stratford in,

 "Hughson's London, Being an Accurate History & Description of the British Metropolis & its Neighbourhood" 

A fine original copper engraving ,an early 19th century view of Wimbledon Villa or Lodge. The house was built in the late eighteenth century on the southside of Wimbledon common for Gerard De Visme ( 1726- 1797) and was pulled down for deveopment in 1905. The Lodge was situated on what is now the site of Murray Road.

Credited and dated in the plate. 

Fine condition save for light age toning to the lower border. A crisp, dark impression, blank verso.

Approx. 7.5" x 5"(190mm x 130mm) overall.
